Pamir National Park - the Heart of Tajikistan

The Tajik National Park "Pamir Mountains" is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The Pamir Mountains Park, with a total area of more than 2.5 million hectares, is located in the east of Tajikistan, in the center of the so-called Pamir mountain junction, from which the highest mountain ranges of Eurasia diverge. The park has 170 rivers, over 400 lakes and at least 1,085 glaciers, including the longest glacier in a mountain valley outside the polar regions. In addition, this natural monument is distinguished by a wide variety of flora, characteristic of the Near East and Central Asian floristic region.

Pamir National Park

The National Park of Tajikistan covers part of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, Jirgatala and Tavildara regions of the Republic of Tajikistan. The purpose of the creation is to preserve unique natural resources, endangered species of flora and fauna, ecological zones, natural monuments of culture and history, organization and development of tourism.

One of the most amazing places in the world. Here, harsh mountains and green valleys, raging mountain rivers and crystal clear lakes, alpine meadows and mountain forests merge into a single landscape. The flora here is rich and unique. But in addition to the wonderful flora, the park has a rich wildlife, including very rare species listed in the Red Book. Snow leopards, bears, argali, ibexes, marmots and other rare animals and birds of prey live here.

Within the boundaries of the park are the high-mountain lakes Karakul and Sarez, the picturesque Sangvor valley, the mountain ranges of the Academy of Sciences and Zaalai with the highest peaks Somoni Peak (7495 m) and Lenin Peak (7134 m), a huge glacier named after. Fedchenko, Medvezhiy glacier, hot and mineral springs, many other interesting natural monuments.

"Pamir Mountains" is the first natural site of Tajikistan, which was included in the World Heritage List.
